Bubalus depressicornis
Bubalus depressicornis, commonly known as the lowland anoa, is a small species of wild buffalo found in the forests of Indonesia and Malaysia. It typically weighs between 150 to 300 kilograms and has a stocky build with short legs. This animal is well-adapted to its forest habitat, using its strong hooves to navigate through dense underbrush.
The lowland anoa is herbivorous, primarily feeding on grasses, leaves, and fruits. It is a solitary or small group animal, often seen foraging alone or with a few others. Due to habitat loss and hunting, Bubalus depressicornis is classified as endangered, making conservation efforts crucial for its survival.
