Brown Pelican
The Brown Pelican is a large coastal bird known for its distinctive long bill and large throat pouch. It has a wingspan of about 6 to 7.5 feet and is primarily found along the coasts of the Americas, especially in areas like the Gulf of Mexico and California. These birds are excellent divers, plunging into the water to catch fish.
Brown Pelicans are social birds, often seen in groups while foraging or resting. They have a unique feeding technique where they dive from the air to catch fish, using their pouch to scoop up water and prey. Their population has recovered significantly since the 1970s, thanks to conservation efforts.
