Bronchial Sounds
Bronchial sounds are a type of lung sound that can be heard during breathing. They are produced by air moving through the large airways, such as the trachea and bronchi. These sounds are typically loud and high-pitched, resembling a hollow or tubular quality. They are most commonly heard during expiration, but can also be present during inspiration in certain conditions.
In a clinical setting, healthcare providers listen for bronchial sounds using a stethoscope. The presence of abnormal bronchial sounds, especially in areas where they are not typically heard, may indicate underlying respiratory issues, such as pneumonia or lung consolidation.
