Broadcasting Standards Commission
The Broadcasting Standards Commission was an independent body in the United Kingdom responsible for regulating broadcasting content. Established in 1997, its main role was to ensure that television and radio programs adhered to certain standards, promoting fairness, accuracy, and respect for individuals. The Commission addressed complaints from the public and provided guidance to broadcasters on ethical practices.
In 2004, the Commission was merged into the Ofcom (Office of Communications), which took over its responsibilities. This transition aimed to streamline the regulatory process for all forms of communication, including television, radio, and telecommunications, ensuring a consistent approach to broadcasting standards across the UK.
