British Imperial Units
British Imperial Units are a system of measurement that originated in the United Kingdom and were used throughout the British Empire. This system includes units such as the inch, foot, yard, and mile for length, as well as the pound and ounce for weight. These units are still used in some countries, including the United States.
The Imperial system was officially established in the 19th century, with the Imperial Weights and Measures Act of 1824. Although the UK has largely adopted the metric system for most measurements, Imperial Units remain common in everyday life, particularly in road signs and certain industries.
