Bridge on the Ibar
The Bridge on the Ibar is a notable structure located in the town of Mitrovica, in northern Kosovo. It spans the Ibar River, connecting the predominantly Albanian southern part of the town with the northern, mainly Serbian area. The bridge has significant historical and cultural importance, symbolizing the division and coexistence of different communities in the region.
Originally built in the 1970s, the bridge has undergone various repairs and renovations over the years, especially after the conflicts in the late 1990s. It serves as a vital transportation link and a focal point for local residents, reflecting the ongoing efforts toward reconciliation and unity in a divided society.
