Briare Aqueduct
The Briare Aqueduct is a remarkable engineering structure located in France. Completed in 1896, it spans the Loire River and connects the Canal de Briare to the Canal latéral à la Loire. The aqueduct is notable for its impressive length of 662 meters and its height of 13 meters, allowing boats to travel over the river.
Constructed using iron and stone, the Briare Aqueduct features a series of arches that support the canal above. It was designed by engineer Ferdinand de Lesseps, who is also known for the Suez Canal. The aqueduct remains a significant landmark and a popular tourist attraction today.
