Brazil Nut
The Brazil nut is a large seed from the tree known as the Bertholletia excelsa, which is native to the Amazon rainforest in South America. These nuts are encased in a hard shell and grow in large fruit pods that can weigh up to 2.5 kilograms. Brazil nuts are rich in healthy fats, protein, and essential minerals, particularly selenium, which is important for various bodily functions.
Brazil nuts are often consumed raw or roasted and are popular in trail mixes and desserts. They are also used to produce oil and can be found in various health food products. Due to their high selenium content, consuming them in moderation is recommended, as excessive intake can lead to toxicity.
