Botflies
Botflies are a type of parasitic fly belonging to the family Oestridae. They are known for their unique life cycle, where the larvae develop inside the bodies of mammals, including humans. The adult botfly lays its eggs on the skin of a host, and when the eggs hatch, the larvae burrow into the host's tissue.
These larvae can cause discomfort and health issues, as they create painful lesions. While botflies are primarily found in tropical and subtropical regions, cases of human infestation have been reported in various parts of the world. Proper hygiene and avoiding contact with infested animals can help prevent botfly infections.
