Bot Fly
The bot fly is a type of parasitic fly belonging to the family Oestridae. These flies are known for their unique life cycle, where the larvae develop inside the bodies of mammals, including humans, dogs, and cattle. The adult bot fly is typically large and hairy, resembling a bumblebee, and does not feed as an adult.
Bot flies lay their eggs on the skin of a host animal. Once the eggs hatch, the larvae burrow into the host's skin, causing irritation and potential infection. Treatment usually involves removing the larvae, and prevention includes avoiding areas where bot flies are common.
