Bot Flies
Bot flies are a type of parasitic fly belonging to the family Oestridae. They are known for their unique life cycle, where the larvae develop inside the bodies of mammals, including humans, dogs, and cattle. Adult bot flies are typically large and hairy, resembling bumblebees, and do not feed as adults.
The female bot fly lays its eggs on the host's skin or in areas where the host will come into contact with them. Once the eggs hatch, the larvae burrow into the host's skin, causing irritation and potential infection. Treatment often involves removing the larvae to alleviate discomfort.
