Boston Marathon bombing
The Boston Marathon bombing occurred on April 15, 2013, during the annual marathon event in Boston, Massachusetts. Two homemade bombs were detonated near the finish line, resulting in three deaths and over 260 injuries. The attack was carried out by brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who were motivated by extremist beliefs.
In the aftermath, a massive manhunt ensued, leading to the capture of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. The event prompted increased security measures at public gatherings and raised awareness about domestic terrorism. In 2015, Tsarnaev was sentenced to death for his role in the attack.
