Bone Healing
Bone healing is a natural process that occurs after a fracture or injury. It involves several stages: inflammation, where the body responds to the injury; soft callus formation, where new tissue begins to bridge the gap; and hard callus formation, where the soft tissue is replaced by bone. This process can take weeks to months, depending on the severity of the injury and the individual's health.
During bone healing, various cells play crucial roles. Osteoblasts are responsible for forming new bone, while osteoclasts help remove old or damaged bone. Proper nutrition, including adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D, is essential for effective healing.
