Bomba
Bomba is a traditional music and dance genre originating from the African heritage of Puerto Rico. It combines rhythmic drumming, call-and-response singing, and vibrant dance movements. The music is typically performed with a variety of drums, including the barril and subidor, and often features improvisation, allowing dancers to interact with the musicians.
The dance is characterized by its energetic and expressive style, where dancers often engage in a playful dialogue with the drummers. Bomba is not only a form of entertainment but also a way to celebrate cultural identity and community, often performed at festivals and social gatherings throughout Puerto Rico.
