Bomb Groups
"Bomb Groups" were units in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II, primarily responsible for conducting strategic bombing missions. Each group typically consisted of several squadrons, which included various types of aircraft designed for bombing operations. These groups played a crucial role in targeting enemy infrastructure and military installations to weaken their capabilities.
The most famous of these was the 8th Air Force, which operated in Europe and was instrumental in the Allied bombing campaigns. Bomb Groups were organized to maximize efficiency and effectiveness in carrying out their missions, often flying in formations to protect each other from enemy fighters.
