Bolivian Altiplano
The Bolivian Altiplano is a high plateau located in western Bolivia, part of the larger Andean region. It sits at an average elevation of about 3,600 meters (11,800 feet) above sea level, making it one of the highest inhabited areas in the world. The Altiplano is characterized by its vast, flat landscapes, salt flats, and mountain ranges, including the Andes.
This region is home to several important features, such as the Salar de Uyuni, the largest salt flat in the world, and the city of La Paz, which is the highest capital city globally. The Altiplano supports diverse ecosystems and is inhabited by various indigenous groups, including the Aymara and Quechua peoples.
