Bode's Galaxy
Bode's Galaxy, also known as Messier 81 or NGC 3031, is a spiral galaxy located about 12 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. It was discovered by the astronomer Johann Elert Bode in 1774. The galaxy has a diameter of approximately 90,000 light-years and is one of the brightest galaxies in the northern sky.
Bode's Galaxy is part of a group of galaxies known as the M81 Group, which includes several other galaxies, such as Messier 82. It features a prominent central bulge and well-defined spiral arms, making it a popular target for astronomers and astrophotographers. The galaxy is also home to various star clusters and nebulae.
