Božena Němcová
Božena Němcová was a prominent Czech writer born on February 4, 1820, in Vienna. She is best known for her novel Babička, which depicts rural life in the Czech lands and celebrates the values of family and tradition. Němcová's work played a significant role in the Czech National Revival, promoting Czech culture and language during a time of national oppression.
Throughout her life, Němcová faced personal hardships, including financial struggles and the challenges of being a single mother. Despite these difficulties, she became an influential figure in Czech literature and is often regarded as one of the first modern Czech writers. She passed away on January 21, 1862, in Prague.
