Blytheville Air Force Base
Blytheville Air Force Base was a military installation located in Blytheville, Arkansas. Established in 1942, it served primarily as a strategic bomber base during the Cold War. The base was home to several units, including the 8th Air Force, and played a significant role in the United States' defense strategy.
In 1991, Blytheville Air Force Base was officially closed as part of a nationwide reduction in military installations. Today, the site has been repurposed for civilian use, including the Blytheville Municipal Airport and various industrial developments, contributing to the local economy.
