Blue Period
The "Blue Period" refers to a phase in the artistic career of Pablo Picasso from 1901 to 1904. During this time, Picasso predominantly used shades of blue and blue-green, reflecting themes of melancholy, poverty, and human suffering. His works often depicted solitary figures and scenes of despair, influenced by his experiences and the suicide of his close friend, Carlos Casagemas.
This period marked a significant shift in Picasso's style, moving away from the bright colors of his earlier works. Notable paintings from the Blue Period include The Old Guitarist and La Vie, which showcase his emotional depth and exploration of the human condition through somber tones and expressive forms.
