Black War
The Black War (1824-1831) was a conflict between the British settlers and the Tasmanian Aboriginal people in Tasmania, Australia. It arose from the expansion of European settlements, which led to violent confrontations over land and resources. The war resulted in significant loss of life and displacement for the Aboriginal communities.
The conflict was marked by brutal tactics, including massacres and forced removals. The British government eventually sought to control the situation by establishing a settlement at Flinders Island, where many Aboriginal people were relocated. The Black War had lasting impacts on the culture and population of the Tasmanian Aboriginal people.
