Black Soldier Fly
The Black Soldier Fly (BSF), scientifically known as *Hermetia illucens*, is a species of fly native to the Americas. It is recognized for its distinctive black body and is often found in decaying organic matter. The larvae of the BSF are particularly notable for their ability to consume large amounts of organic waste, making them valuable in waste management and composting.
BSF larvae are rich in protein and fat, making them an excellent feed source for livestock and aquaculture. They are also used in the production of organic fertilizers. Their rapid life cycle and high reproductive rate contribute to their effectiveness in converting waste into useful products.
