Black Macaque
The Black Macaque, also known as the Celebes Black Macaque or Sulawesi Black Macaque, is a primate species native to the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia. These monkeys are characterized by their black fur, prominent facial features, and a distinctive tuft of hair on their heads. They primarily inhabit tropical rainforests and are known for their social behavior, living in groups called troops.
Black Macaques are omnivorous, feeding on fruits, leaves, seeds, and small animals. They play a crucial role in their ecosystem by aiding in seed dispersal. Unfortunately, their populations are threatened by habitat loss and hunting, leading to their classification as an endangered species. Conservation efforts are underway to protect their natural habitats and ensure their survival.
