Bison antiquus
Bison antiquus is an extinct species of bison that lived in North America during the late Pleistocene epoch, approximately 240,000 to 10,000 years ago. It was larger than modern bison, with long, curved horns and a robust body, adapted to the cold environments of the Ice Age.
This ancient bison roamed the grasslands and open woodlands, feeding on grasses and shrubs. Fossils of Bison antiquus have been found in various locations, providing insights into the ecosystems of the time and the interactions between early humans and megafauna.
