Binaural Hearing
Binaural hearing is the ability to hear with both ears, which helps us perceive sound more accurately. This process allows us to determine the direction and distance of sounds, enhancing our ability to understand speech and enjoy music. Our brain combines the information received from each ear to create a clearer sound picture.
The two ears pick up sounds slightly differently due to their position on the head. This difference, known as interaural time difference and interaural level difference, helps the brain locate where a sound is coming from. Binaural hearing is essential for effective communication and spatial awareness.
