Binary Image
A binary image is a type of digital image that consists of only two colors, typically black and white. Each pixel in a binary image is represented by a single bit, where one color (usually black) represents a value of 1, and the other color (usually white) represents a value of 0. This simplicity makes binary images useful for various applications, such as image processing and computer vision.
Binary images are often used in tasks like image segmentation, where an image is divided into distinct regions, or in optical character recognition (OCR), which converts printed text into digital format. The clear distinction between the two colors allows for easier analysis and manipulation of the image data.
