Biloxi Language
The Biloxi language is a member of the Siouan language family, historically spoken by the Biloxi people in the southeastern United States. It was primarily used in areas around the Mississippi River and the Gulf Coast. The language is now considered extinct, with the last fluent speakers having passed away in the 20th century.
Efforts have been made to document and preserve the Biloxi language through linguistic studies and historical records. Although no native speakers remain, revitalization initiatives aim to teach the language to new generations, highlighting its cultural significance and heritage among the Biloxi tribe.
