Biela's Comet
Biela's Comet is a periodic comet that was first observed in 1772 by the astronomer Jean-Louis Pons. It has an orbital period of approximately 6.6 years, making it one of the more frequently returning comets. The comet is named after the Czech astronomer Ignaz Biela, who studied it in detail during the 19th century.
In 1852, Biela's Comet split into two separate fragments, which were observed during subsequent returns. The comet became less visible after 1852, and by the early 20th century, it was no longer seen. Its disappearance remains a topic of interest in the study of comets and their behavior.
