Bidston Observatory
Bidston Observatory is a historic astronomical observatory located on Bidston Hill in Wirral, England. Established in 1866, it was primarily used for timekeeping and astronomical research. The observatory played a crucial role in the development of maritime navigation by providing accurate time signals to ships.
The observatory features a distinctive tower and houses various scientific instruments, including a telescope. It was part of the Liverpool Observatory network and contributed to the study of celestial bodies. Although it ceased operations in 1984, Bidston Observatory remains a significant landmark and is now managed by the Bidston Observatory Trust.
