Bernese Mountain Dogs
The Bernese Mountain Dog is a large, sturdy breed known for its striking tri-color coat, which features black, white, and rust markings. Originally bred in the Swiss Alps for herding and draft work, these dogs are strong and agile, making them excellent working companions. They typically weigh between 70 to 115 pounds and stand about 23 to 28 inches tall at the shoulder.
Bernese Mountain Dogs are known for their gentle and affectionate nature, making them great family pets. They are friendly, intelligent, and good with children, but they require regular exercise and mental stimulation. Their thick, double coat needs regular grooming to prevent matting and manage shedding.
