Berlin Holocaust Memorial
The Berlin Holocaust Memorial, officially known as the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, is located in the heart of Berlin, Germany. It consists of 2,711 concrete slabs of varying heights, arranged in a grid pattern over a sloping site. The design aims to create an unsettling atmosphere, encouraging visitors to reflect on the horrors of the Holocaust.
Opened in 2005, the memorial serves as a tribute to the approximately six million Jews who perished during the Nazi regime. Beneath the surface, there is an information center that provides historical context and personal stories, enhancing the understanding of this tragic chapter in history.
