Bergström Air Force Base
Bergström Air Force Base was a military installation located in Austin, Texas. Established in 1942, it served primarily as a training base for pilots during World War II and later supported various military operations. The base was named after Captain John A. Bergström, a local pilot who died in action.
In 1993, Bergström Air Force Base was closed as part of a nationwide military downsizing. The site has since been repurposed and is now known as Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, serving commercial air travel while preserving some historical elements of the former base.
