Bent's Fort
Bent's Fort is a historic adobe fort located in southeastern Colorado, near the Arkansas River. Built in 1833 by Charles Bent and his partners, it served as a trading post and a vital supply center for travelers and settlers moving westward. The fort was a key location for trade between Native American tribes and European settlers.
The fort's design features thick adobe walls and a central courtyard, providing protection against potential attacks. It played an important role in the fur trade and was a hub for communication and commerce until it was abandoned in the late 1840s. Today, Bent's Fort is a National Historic Site, preserving its rich history.
