Bee Sting
A bee sting occurs when a bee, typically a honeybee, injects venom into a person or animal through its stinger. This can happen when a bee feels threatened or provoked. The venom contains proteins that affect skin cells and the immune system, leading to pain, swelling, and redness at the sting site. Most people experience mild reactions, but some may have more severe allergic reactions.
Treatment for a bee sting usually involves removing the stinger, cleaning the area, and applying ice to reduce swelling. Over-the-counter pain relievers and antihistamines can help alleviate discomfort. In cases of severe allergic reactions, known as anaphylaxis, immediate medical attention is necessary.
