Battle of the Little Bighorn
The Battle of the Little Bighorn, fought on June 25-26, 1876, was a significant conflict between the United States Army and a coalition of Native American tribes, primarily the Lakota Sioux, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho. The battle occurred in present-day Montana and was part of the larger Great Sioux War.
Led by Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer, the U.S. forces aimed to suppress Native American resistance to westward expansion. Custer's troops were vastly outnumbered and ultimately defeated, resulting in the death of Custer and many of his men, marking a notable victory for the Native American forces.
