Battle of the Dunes
The Battle of the Dunes took place on June 14, 1658, during the Anglo-Dutch Wars. It was fought near Dunkirk, in present-day France, between the forces of the Commonwealth of England, led by Oliver Cromwell, and the Spanish Empire. The battle was part of a larger conflict over control of trade routes and territories in Europe.
The English forces, supported by their Dutch allies, aimed to capture Dunkirk from the Spanish. The battle ended in a decisive victory for the English and their allies, leading to the eventual capture of Dunkirk and strengthening their position in the region.
