Battle of Wagram
The Battle of Wagram took place from July 5 to July 6, 1809, during the War of the Fifth Coalition. It was fought between the forces of Napoleon Bonaparte and the Austrian Empire near the town of Wagram, close to Vienna. This battle was significant as it marked a decisive victory for Napoleon, solidifying his control over much of Europe.
The conflict involved around 300,000 troops, with Napoleon commanding approximately 180,000 soldiers. The Austrians, led by Archduke Charles, faced heavy losses, leading to the eventual signing of the Treaty of Schönbrunn later that year, which further diminished Austrian power in Europe.
