The Battle of Tippecanoe took place on November 7, 1811, near present-day Battle Ground, Indiana. It was fought between American forces led by Governor William Henry Harrison and Native American warriors associated with Tecumseh, a Shawnee leader. The battle was part of a larger conflict over land and sovereignty as settlers moved westward.
The confrontation began when Harrison's troops attacked the Native American camp, which was part of a confederation aiming to resist American expansion. Although the battle was technically a draw, it weakened Native American resistance in the region and increased tensions leading up to the War of 1812.
