Battle of Savannah
The Battle of Savannah took place from September 16 to October 18, 1779, during the American Revolutionary War. It was a significant conflict between British forces, led by General Augustus Prevost, and American and French troops, commanded by General Benjamin Lincoln and Admiral François de Grasse. The battle aimed to recapture Savannah, Georgia, which had fallen to the British in 1778.
The siege involved intense fighting, with the British fortifying their positions. Despite the combined efforts of the American and French forces, the siege ended in failure for the patriots, solidifying British control over Savannah for several years.
