Battle of Salamanca
The Battle of Salamanca took place on July 22, 1812, during the Peninsular War. It was fought between the forces of the British Army, led by Duke of Wellington, and the French Army, commanded by Marshal Marmont. The battle was significant for its strategic impact, as it marked a turning point in the war, leading to the retreat of French forces from Spain.
The British victory at Salamanca allowed the Allies to gain control over much of central Spain. This success boosted morale among the coalition forces and contributed to the eventual downfall of Napoleon Bonaparte's influence in the region.
