Battle of Preston
The Battle of Preston took place in August 1715 during the Jacobite Rising. It was fought between the forces loyal to the deposed King James II and the government troops supporting King George I. The battle occurred in and around the town of Preston, located in Lancashire, England.
The Jacobite forces, led by William Gordon, aimed to capture Preston but were ultimately defeated by the government army under the command of General Wills. This defeat marked a significant setback for the Jacobite cause, leading to the eventual decline of their efforts to restore the Stuart monarchy.
