Battle of Olustee
The Battle of Olustee was fought on February 20, 1864, during the American Civil War. It took place near Olustee, Florida and was a significant engagement between Union and Confederate forces. The Union aimed to secure Florida and disrupt Confederate supply lines, while the Confederates sought to defend their territory.
The battle involved approximately 5,500 Union troops led by General Truman Seymour and around 6,000 Confederate soldiers commanded by General Joseph Finegan. The Confederates emerged victorious, forcing the Union forces to retreat, which marked the largest battle fought in Florida during the Civil War.
