Battle of Ladysmith
The Battle of Ladysmith was a significant conflict during the Second Boer War, which took place from November 1899 to February 1900. British forces, led by General Sir George White, were besieged by the Boer troops around the town of Ladysmith in present-day South Africa. The siege lasted for 118 days, during which the British faced shortages of food and ammunition.
The battle was marked by several attempts to break the siege, including the Battle of Colenso and the Battle of Spion Kop. Ultimately, the British relief forces, under General Sir Redvers Buller, succeeded in lifting the siege in February 1900, allowing the troops in Ladysmith to escape and regroup.
