Battle of Kaskaskia
The Battle of Kaskaskia took place in July 1778 during the American Revolutionary War. It was a surprise attack led by George Rogers Clark against the British-held town of Kaskaskia, located in present-day Illinois. Clark aimed to gain control of the region and weaken British influence in the Northwest Territory.
The battle was relatively quick and resulted in an American victory. Clark's forces captured the town without significant resistance, securing vital supplies and support from local French settlers. This victory helped to bolster American morale and laid the groundwork for further military actions in the area.
