Battle of Fushimi
The Battle of Fushimi took place on January 27, 1868, during the early stages of the Boshin War in Japan. This conflict was primarily between the forces loyal to the Tokugawa shogunate and those supporting the Imperial Court. The battle occurred near Kyoto, where the Imperial forces aimed to seize control from the shogunate.
The battle was significant as it marked the beginning of the armed conflict that would ultimately lead to the end of the Tokugawa shogunate and the restoration of imperial rule. The Imperial forces, led by Saigo Takamori, achieved a decisive victory, boosting their momentum in the war.
