Battle of Al-Qadisiyyah
The Battle of Al-Qadisiyyah was a significant military engagement fought in 636 CE between the forces of the Rashidun Caliphate and the Sassanian Empire. This battle marked a crucial point in the Islamic expansion into Persia, as the Muslim army aimed to spread their influence and control over the region.
The battle took place near the city of Al-Qadisiyyah, located in present-day Iraq. The Rashidun forces, led by Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, faced a well-prepared Sassanian army commanded by Rostam Farrokhzad. The victory for the Muslims at Al-Qadisiyyah paved the way for the eventual fall of the Sassanian Empire.
