Basidiospores
Basidiospores are reproductive cells produced by fungi in the class Basidiomycetes, which includes mushrooms and toadstools. These spores are formed on specialized structures called basidia, typically found on the gills or pores of the fruiting body. When released, basidiospores can disperse through the air or water, allowing fungi to colonize new environments.
Each basidiospore is usually single-celled and can vary in shape, size, and color depending on the species. Once they land in a suitable habitat, they can germinate and develop into new fungal organisms, continuing the life cycle of the fungus.
