Base Runner
A base runner is a player in baseball or softball who is on the field after hitting the ball or reaching base through other means, such as a walk. The primary objective of a base runner is to advance to the next base and ultimately score a run by reaching home plate. Base runners must be aware of the game situation, including the number of outs and the position of fielders.
Base runners can take leads off the base and attempt to steal bases, which involves running to the next base before the pitcher throws the ball. Successful base running requires speed, agility, and good judgment, as players must decide when to advance or retreat based on the actions of the defense and the ball's location.
