Barrow's Goldeneye
Barrow's Goldeneye is a medium-sized diving duck found primarily in North America and parts of northern Europe. Males are easily recognizable by their striking black and white plumage, bright yellow eyes, and a distinctive round head. Females are brown with a lighter face and a more subdued appearance. These ducks prefer freshwater lakes and rivers, especially during the breeding season.
During winter, Barrow's Goldeneye migrates to coastal marine environments, where they can be seen diving for fish and invertebrates. They are known for their agile swimming and diving abilities, which help them forage effectively. Their breeding habitats are often located in wooded areas near water, where they nest in tree cavities or on the ground.
