Bamum
The Bamum are an ethnic group located in the western region of Cameroon. They are known for their rich cultural heritage, including traditional music, dance, and art. The Bamum people primarily speak the Bamum language, which is part of the Niger-Congo language family.
One of the most notable aspects of Bamum culture is their unique writing system, known as Bamum script, created by King Njoya in the late 19th century. This script was developed to promote literacy and preserve the Bamum language and history. The Bamum are also recognized for their intricate craftsmanship, particularly in pottery and wood carving.
